About the Festival
Cornelian cherry trees are heralds that burst into yellow blossoms first when spring arrives, signaling the start of spring outings and most dramatically conveying the warm spirit of spring. Hwajeon-ri, located in Sagok-myeon, Uiseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, is particularly the largest cornelian cherry tree destination in Korea, where over 30,000 ancient trees that have endured for over 300 years form a natural cluster. Every spring, the entire village is dyed golden as if yellow paint has been spread, and wherever you look, a magnificent view like an Oriental painting unfolds. The highlight here is undoubtedly the fantastic contrast of colors created by the green garlic shoots and the yellow cornelian cherry blossoms. The 20-ri (approximately 8 km) cornelian cherry blossom path, created by the harmony of the vibrant green of the budding garlic fields and the lush yellow of the profusely blooming cornelian cherry trees, offers deep emotion to those who walk it. Escaping from busy daily life, walking with beloved family, precious lovers, or like-minded friends amidst cornelian cherry petals fluttering in the spring breeze, you will soon feel the warm spring energy permeating your body and mind. The time spent in Hwajeon-ri Cornelian Cherry Village will be more than just appreciating the scenery; it will be a special journey that carves unforgettable precious memories of a spring day deep into your heart.
