The Pohang International Fireworks Festival began in 2004 with a fireworks show commemorating Pohang Citizens' Day, themed around the images of 'light' symbolizing Pohang as a world-class steel city and 'fire' symbolizing a hot blast furnace. Since then, it has expanded into an global festival, with famous overseas fireworks teams participating every year. The festival content has also moved beyond simple 'fireworks,' evolving into a harmonious festival that diversifies by combining industrial and cultural elements such as produced performances and light parades.
