About the Festival

Mokpo, which opened its port in 1897, enjoyed the glory of being one of the top 3 ports and 6 major cities in the nation, leading the revival of the local economy as a center for trade, logistics, and transportation. Currently, it is the central hinterland city of the southwest coast. The Mokpo Port Festival is the nation's only festival that recreates the traditional Pasi (wave market) of Mokpo Port, full of the scent of the harbor, on Samhakdo Island, where legends coexist, widely promoting its historical value. It is also an autumn festival filled with the romance of the abundant Mokpo Port, featuring events such as a Pasi auction using seasonal seafood, and the immediate grilling and cooking of the auctioned seafood.
