About the Festival
The 40th Icheon Ceramic Festival is a ceramic culture event held in the Icheon Ceramic Art Village and Sagimakgol area in Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. Icheon is a region that has continued its ceramic culture, encompassing both tradition and modernity, based on high-quality clay and excellent kiln technology since ancient times. This festival, celebrating its 40th anniversary, is prepared as an opportunity to look back at the history and value of the Icheon Ceramic Festival and to collectively envision the future direction of ceramic culture. During the festival period, ceramists and visitors can mingle together to share the artistic meaning of ceramics, and directly experience the ceramic production process through various experiential programs such as pottery wheel experience and writing wishes on large ceramics. Furthermore, a wide range of exhibitions and sales, from traditional ceramics to modern design works, will take place, and the platform for cultural and artistic exchange will be expanded through linked programs such as academic seminars, ceramic competitions, and performances. Through the active participation of local ceramists and residents, the festival will contribute to revitalizing the local economy and widely publicize the excellence of Icheon's ceramic culture both domestically and internationally.
