About the Festival
*The festival content below is from the previous year's (2025) festival, and the content for the 2026 festival is being updated.* The 'Pyeongchang Hyoseok Cultural Festival' is composed of an artistic and cultural stage based on the lyricism of literature, set against the backdrop of Bongpyeongjang market and white buckwheat flowers like sprinkled salt, which are the highlight of Lee Hyo-seok's literature and the setting for his representative short story 'When the Buckwheat Flowers Bloom.' It also includes an exciting performance stage where you can momentarily forget your tired daily life and get caught up in the excitement, simple local food, and memories from a rural market, creating new nostalgia with the savory dialects, generous hospitality, and diverse scenery of village elders who came out to buy daily necessities. Finally, it offers a healing stage in the Heungjeongcheon Stream relaxation area, a time for introspection to find your precious self, momentarily put down the weight of life, and envision tomorrow's hopes.
