About the Festival
*The food content for the festival venue below is from the previous year's (2025) festival, and the content for the 2026 festival is being updated.* The Chuncheon Mime Festival is Korea's representative performing arts festival that connects cities, art, and citizens through the art of mime, an art that conveys emotions through body movements. Held annually in the last week of May in Chuncheon, the city of water and spring, it is considered one of the world's top three mime festivals, alongside the Mimos Mime Festival in France and the London Mime Festival in the UK, enhancing its international status. It is creating a new genre, 'Chuncheon + Mime + Festival,' through the convergence of the emotions and spirits of the city and its citizens with speechless movements and various genres such as water, fire, flowers, light, and video. It is also a festival of 'Nanjang' (grand communal play) that artistically unravels the desires of the city and the era through bodily gestures. The 2026 Chuncheon Mime Festival, under the theme 'Body Scenery,' will be held from May 24th to May 31st, showcasing various 'body sceneries' throughout Chuncheon for 8 days, starting with the opening Nanjang 'Ah! Surajang,' followed by theater performances, 'Walking Mime,' 'Art Nanjang X,' and the all-night 'Goblin Nanjang.'
About the Festival
1. Opening Nanjang 'Ah! Surajang' - Opening program. A grand water play and street performances by artists, held by blocking off a 4-lane road. 2. All-night Nanjang 'Goblin Nanjang' - Freedom for our confined bodies! A killer content of the Chuncheon Mime Festival where goblin-like artists and visitors play until sunrise, featuring performances of various genres such as mime, dance, circus, and aerial, as well as body movement programs by artists and spaces decorated by local youths. 3. Art Nanjang X - The most experimental art Nanjang between the resonance of the opening and the passion of the all-night event. Art here is not a predetermined answer, but an unknown X that is experienced together. A new Nanjang program where various bodies gather to present art. 4. Theater Performances - Body movement performances of various genres held at the Festival Theater Momzit, operated by the Chuncheon Mime Festival. 5. Hello? House of Mime - In cooperation with the Korea Mime Council, a special day created by leading Korean mime artists. 6. Walking Mime - Various performance programs held along the Seoksa Stream promenade. 7. Goblin Wandering Troupe - A program where artists visit everyday spaces such as schools and streets.
