About the Festival
The Andong International Mask Dance Festival is a 'mask dance' festival that inherits the universal value of masks and mask dances, which are universal cultures of the world, and aims for people to enjoy their charm together. It brings together performances not only of Korean mask dances, which are inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, but also performances from 34 groups in 25 countries, allowing visitors to experience mask dances from various nations. Mask dance performances, street parades in the city center, and a World Mask Play Competition are held, offering time to discover the expressions and stories that masks and mask dances hold in each country.
About the Festival
1. Domestic and International Mask Dance Performances - 17 domestic mask dance troupes inscribed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity 'Korean Mask Dance' will participate - 33 overseas mask dance troupes from 28 countries will participate 2. Madangguk (traditional outdoor play) & Creative Play Performances 3. Competition Events such as World Mask Play Competition, Mask Talent, World Creative Mask Contest 4. Citizen Participation Events such as Daedong Nanjang (grand communal play) and Street Parade 5. Various Experience Events such as Mask Making, Learning Mask Dance 6. Provision of festival food where you can feel the Mask Dance Festival and Andong
