About the Festival
Thirty years ago, several young people from 'Daegwallyeong,' the heart of winter in Korea, gathered to create a snow festival. Started in 1993, the 'Daegwallyeong Snow Festival' is the nation's first winter festival, boasting over 30 years of history. Held annually with the goal of overcoming the winter off-season, vitalizing the local economy, and fostering community harmony, it has evolved into a festival attracting many tourists. The Daegwallyeong Snow Festival has changed its theme to "Snowy's Journey to Become a National Winter Sports Athlete." Visitors can vividly witness the process of Pyeongchang's mascot 'Snowy,' who dreamed of becoming a national sports athlete after watching the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, transforming into a national representative for the 2026 Milan Olympics, through colossal snow sculptures and ice sculptures. A dynamic winter sports experience zone unfolds along Snowy's growth journey.
