About the Festival

In the old days, every winter, our ancestors would tie ropes to neighboring houses due to heavy snowfall, creating snow tunnels to visit each other. When the cold river winds caused the shallow rapids to freeze early, they would hunt winter fish by hitting large rocks in the river with hammers to make a meal. It was a difficult time. Right here, we sublimate the hardships of our ancestors' lives into a festival, with the theme of 'A Winter Story with Snow, Ice, and Trout.' Every year, from late December to late January, the Pyeongchang Trout Festival unfolds. Visitors can experience the thrill of trout fishing while clearly seeing fish swimming in the Odaecheon River through the ice, and enjoy various winter experience events, truly feeling the joy of a winter festival.
