2026 Library Day · Library Week

About the Festival

With the revision of the Library Act in 2021, April 12th every year was designated as Library Day, and the week following it as Library Week, to enhance public understanding and interest in libraries and promote their use. The first Library Day was commemorated in 2023, and as we approach the third Library Day in 2025, Library Week, a library and reading culture campaign led by the Korean Library Association since 1964, celebrates its 62nd anniversary this year. To promote library utilization, an international conference and a hackathon for Library Day will be held at the National Library of Korea from April 12th to 18th, 2026, and a Library Day commemoration ceremony will be held at Seonyu Library in Yeongdeungpo-gu on April 10th.
