About the Festival
Traditional cultural events, including the Namsan Beacon Fire Ceremony, are projects hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to re-enact Joseon Dynasty communication methods, introduce Korea's unique traditional culture to citizens and domestic/international tourists, and provide opportunities to enjoy culture. The Namsan Beacon Mound was an important communication means during the Joseon Dynasty, gathering beacon fires from beacon mounds across the country to finally report situations to the capital city. At the Namsan Beacon Mound, you can watch the Namsan Beacon Fire Ceremony and listen to historical explanations. In addition, the Bosingak Bell-tolling Ceremony for Citizens, which rings the bell every day at noon, is a participatory event for citizens and tourists. You can watch Samulnori performances and traditional martial arts demonstrations at the Palgakjeong Square of Namsan Tower, Seoul. Furthermore, experiential programs such as the daily Gyeongjeomgwan experience and daily beacon keeper experience are also available.
