About the Festival
A happy 8 days with the people, approaching as a citizens' festival. The grandest festival in Joseon history, a journey shared by the people and the benevolent monarch! In 2026, following the path of King Jeongjo's royal parade, we commemorate King Jeongjo's intentions as described in 『Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe』. In 1795, King Jeongjo made a royal procession to Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon to commemorate his mother Hyegyegung Hong's 60th birthday. King Jeongjo's 8-day journey was not merely a king's movement, but a historical event that shared joyful memories with the people. King Jeongjo's spirit of loving his people was enshrined in 『Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe』 and widely distributed. In 2026, inheriting the spirit of King Jeongjo, the happy memories of the people will be reenacted as happy memories for citizens. The joint reenactment of King Jeongjo's royal parade is a festival where Seoul City, Gyeonggi Province, Suwon City, and Hwaseong City collaborate to magnificently reproduce the original form of the 'Hwaseong Royal Procession of the Eulmyo Year' in modern times.
