Uiryeong Honguijanggun Festival

About the Festival

When the nation faced difficulties due to foreign invasions, the righteous army was a symbol of patriotism, formed by citizens who organized themselves into an army with the sole purpose of saving the nation and overcoming national crises. The Honguijanggun Festival is the largest righteous army festival in the nation, held annually around April 22nd, the day of the righteous army's founding, to commemorate General Kwak Jae-woo (Mangudang), who was the first to raise a righteous army nationwide during the Imjin War in 1592, along with 17 commanders and numerous other righteous soldiers, and to inherit their spirit.
